(350^th Birthday Anniversary)

In 2008, we celebrated the 350^th birthday anniversary of an eminent Georgian writer Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani.

His merit towards Georgian history is worth mentioning.

A writer, a translator, a lexicographer, a linguist, a Bible researcher, a philosopher, a diplomat, a traveler, a cartographer, an encyclopedist and a public figure - a person who has awakened the dormant literary-intellectual life of Georgia after Rustaveli’s epoch and as a result there emerged a new cultural wave.

There exists a certain number of works, not only in Georgia but in abroad as well, depicting Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani’s life and his creative works.

Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature has prepared selected annotated bibliography dedicated to Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani’s 350^th anniversary. It will be of great use not only for specialists, teachers and students but for ordinary readers as well.

Working on the bibliography has been accomplished in February, 2009.
