Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature represents the research centre dedicated to Georgian literature and problems associated with the study of literature.
The purpose of the institute is carrying out fundamental and applied research pertaining to Georgian literature as well as literature theory and folklore, and supporting the implementation of products of its study into practice.
Effectuating scientific projects of philological research in accordance with contemporary standards and assisting the integration of Georgian philological school in world humanitarian and philological processes is the principal function of the institute.
